CLEP (College Level Examination Program)

  • The College Level Examination Program(CLEP) is a national program, developed and administered by the College Board, offering a series of standardized tests to earn college credit. 
  • The Mount accepts 32 CLEP tests in a variety of subjects for credit.  For a description of tests and study information, please visit CLEP’s website
  • You can take CLEP exams at several area testing centers or use the Remote Proctoring option to test at home. The Mount offers quiet testing rooms for our students to take CLEP exams – contact center@msj.edu for more information. 

Registration and Fees:

CLEP tests are $95 per test (plus proctoring fee of $30-40). When you register, please request your scores be sent to Mount St. Joseph University (School Code 8189). If you have questions or need assistance, please call the Career and Experiential Education Center at (513) 244-4888 or email career.center@msj.edu. To schedule a CLEP test at any other location, please visit clep.collegeboard.org

Additional CLEP Information

  • Students must meet with their academic advisor or the Advising Center and completely understand their degree profile sheet requirements before registering for the exam.
  • Students are encouraged to take CLEP examinations during the first 90 credit hours (freshmen-junior standing) at Mount St. Joseph University.
  • CLEP’s policy requires that students who fail an examination wait a minimum of three months before repeating the exam.
