We are proud to announce Jadah Jackson as our May Pride of the Lions!

Dear Mount Community,

I am pleased and proud to announce that the Pride of the Lions award for May goes to Jadah Jackson, Academic Advisor and Director of the PASS program, in the Academic Advising Resource Center.  Jadah is a Mount alumna who completed her B.S. in Biology in the spring of 2018. During the 2023-2024 Academic Year, Jadah agreed to serve as the Staff Advisor for the Black Student Union (BSU).  Under her guidance, BSU has grown from 5-10 active participants to 35-40 active participants.  She has overseen several initiatives, in that capacity, including “Hot Wings and Hot Topics,” “Soul Food Social,” “I am, I am not,” and monthly “Game Nights.”  Last year, Jadah formed a collaboration with Michael Thompson, the University’s Artist-in-Residence, to design shirts celebrating Black History Month.  Jadah is a strong advocate for student success and often attends athletic competitions and student events.

This year, Jadah took the lead in coordinating the first Multicultural Graduation Celebration. This event, held on April 24th, was open to all members of the Mount community and included food, a selfie station, and an amazing program, honoring Mount graduates. Dr. Laura Saylor, who attended and helped plan the event said, “The energy, pride, and sense of community in the room that night was truly unforgettable. It was a beautiful celebration of our students’ achievements, their cultures, and the many journeys that brought them to this important milestone. Watching our students be honored and uplifted in such a powerful way was a moving reminder of the very heart of our work.  Jadah’s vision, passion, and dedication created a celebration filled with belonging, joy, and love.”

Please help me thank and congratulate Jadah Jackson for her leadership and tremendous commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Mount St. Joseph University!

Sincerely,

H. James Williams, Ph.D.
