Biography:

Born in the Republic of South Korea, Dr. Minhwa Kim received her Master and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in violin performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Dr. Pitro Milewski and Professor Kurt Sassmannshaus. She was the recipient of the Starling Scholarship award at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, was the scholarship and concerto competition winner at the Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea, and received First Prize at the Junior Hanguk Music Competition in Chonbuk, Korea, and Second Prize at Weurm Competition in Seoul, Korea.

Dr. Kim has extensive experience teaching violin, viola, chamber music, and string orchestra coaching and is still active as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. She was the first violinist for a performance of Vivaldi Concerto for 3 Violins with the Ewha Orchestra and soloist for the E. Lalo Symphonie Espagnole with the Korean-American Symphony Orchestra. As a Chamber Musician, she is the founder of the Ammigus String Quartet.

In addition, Dr. Kim has also been a member of the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra. She teaches a wide variety of students ranging from young children to graduate students. Her students have won university scholarships and string competitions and have successfully auditioned with orchestras.
