Benefits of Dual Enrollment
Start Your Core Curriculum: Credits That Count Toward Any MSJ Major
Our Core Curriculum is a set of foundational courses required across all Mount St. Joseph University bachelor’s degrees. By completing these courses in high school, you can make meaningful progress toward graduation — even if you’re still exploring majors.
Why the Core Curriculum Works Well for Dual Enrollment
- Works with high school graduation requirements: Many core courses align with subjects you are already taking.
- Ideal for undecided students: Stay on track toward any major while exploring interests.
- Potentially speeds up college completion or lessens semester course loads: Finish foundational requirements early.
- Builds real college readiness skills: Strengthen writing, analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
Eligibility & Transfer Credit
Dual Enrollment is open to students approved by their high schools to take courses for college credit. There is a nominal per credit hour fee that is paid by the student/family for each course. The courses are noted on an official MSJ transcript. Please note, the transfer of credit greatly depends on several factors such as the grade received, the course applying to the student’s program of study, and more, therefore the Mount cannot guarantee course transferability.

Ready to Take the Next Step?
For Students & Families: The best way to start is by speaking with your high school guidance counselor. They can help you determine which courses are eligible and guide you through the approval process.
Once enrolled, students will receive a student ID card to utilize our MSJ campus facilities, including the Fitness Center, free athletic games, 24-hour computer lab, and library services.
