The Creative Writing Minor is intended to strengthen and showcase students’ writing abilities while encouraging them to explore their unique voice and style. The minor provides opportunities for feedback, revision, and creative experimentation, helping students build confidence in their writing and apply their creativity across academic, professional, and personal pursuits.
Creative writing, a form of artistic expression, draws on the imagination to convey meaning through the use of imagery, narrative, and drama. Through poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and scriptwriting, writers explore ideas, emotions, and human experiences while developing their own unique voice and style. Students of creative writing learn to craft compelling stories and vivid language while strengthening skills in observation, critical thinking, and revision.
