From October 16-20, Mount St. Joseph University highlights National Transfer Student Week to build awareness of diverse student needs within transfer student populations.

Mount St. Joseph News

As soon as you enter the doors of Mount St. Joseph University, we welcome you with all that campus has to offer. The Mount is here to make you feel at home with your transfer experience, a place where you can discover a sense of belonging, build new connections, and participate with your peers in campus events—all while reaching new heights in your education.

From October 16-20, Mount St. Joseph University highlights National Transfer Student Week to build awareness of diverse student needs within transfer student populations. According to the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students, (NISTS), with more transfer students than ever before, it is important to build awareness of common transfer barriers students may face to create pathways for degree completion.

The Office of Admission staff stand ready to help you succeed to ensure a seamless transfer experience. They understand first-hand the needs of students looking to transfer to a four-year college, demonstrating care and service to accommodate your unique needs.

Assistant Director for Adult and Transfer Recruitment, Amy Wolf, and Adult/Transfer Admission Counselor, Hannah Schiering both provide hands-on, custom admission counseling for adult and transfer students, making transferring as easy as possible.

This includes personalized appointments, and identifying transfer pathways to keep transfers on track with their career goals to exceed personally and professionally.

“I really am glad with the decision I made to come to the Mount,” says Paul Lavelle ’25. “The community accepted me with open arms and really made me feel at home. A piece of advice I would give to someone looking to transfer to the Mount, is be open to all help and don't be scared to ask questions. Also, try to join as many organizations as possible—It really helps you adapt and be a part of the Mount community.”

Student Testimonials

Whether they are a part of student organizations, athletics, or balancing family-life and academics, our transfer and adult students found that the Mount’s compassionate faculty and staff helped them reach new heights for a personalized experience.

“I chose the Mount because I was looking around for a college that made me feel like I was at home,” says Jalissa Cornwall ’24, Middle Childhood Education major. “I didn’t want to go somewhere that I felt like I was just a number—I wanted to mean something.”

Adult transfer student Mikayla Davis ’24 in the Early Childhood/Primary Education program provides advice for other adult transfer students while finding balance as a full-time mother and student.

“Some advice I would give to another adult student is have faith, ask questions, ask for help, and believe in yourself,” says Mikayla. “The Mount will help you and support you through your journey. If anyone is attending the Mount, it is their time to shine.”
