The Mount teams up with Children’s Hospital for the SLASH Summer Program/Speech, Language Hearing Sciences Career Exploration program.

Erin Sizemore, the Chair of the Mount’s Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and the Co-Director of the SLASH Summer Program shares some insight on this exciting summer camp co-hosted with Children’s Hospital.

 

1. What is the SLASH Summer Program?

“The Students Learning About Speech and Hearing Summer Program (/slash/ Summer Program) is a 4-week program in June funded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. It provides an opportunity for students from underrepresented groups to learn more about the fields of speech-language pathology and audiology.”

2. Who is the SLASH Summer Program for?

“Local high school rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are interested in learning more about speech-language pathology and audiology.”

3. Where is the SLASH Summer Program hosted?

“The program is held at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Center, Main Campus.”

4. What does the partnership between the Mount and Children’s Hospital look like for the SLASH Summer Program?

“The program has 2 directors- Shyla Miller, MA CCC-SLP, and Erin Redle Sizemore, Ph.D. CCC-SLP. Dr. Redle Sizemore is Chair of the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences department and is working with CCHMC on the program.”
